Planning granted for new affordable homes in Reading
Date: 11 March 2020
Planning consent was granted for a new development in Reading that will bring nine quality new affordable homes to the area. The Swansea Road development is in a convenient town centre location which will be great for residents to access local shops and transport.
Sovereign will use Homes England funding to build this 100% affordable development which will have nine shared ownership homes and will regenerate an area that is currently occupied by storage and commercial buildings, breathing new residential life into the neighbourhood. Residents will be able to move in around autumn 2021.
This new planning consent is just one of many Sovereign developments in the local area, with a 96 home site in Cardiff Road, just 600 yards away, offering 29 quality new affordable homes on its completion in summer 2021.
Jenny Grote, Regional Head of Development, Sovereign, said: “We’re excited to have planning granted for this 100% affordable development because we want to build the right homes in the right places. This regeneration will bring nine quality new affordable homes to an area where they’re really needed.”
