Fish and tip for Christchurch community
People who live on the Somerford Estate in Christchurch can have a massive spring clean and a free meal this weekend thanks to a tidy-up organised by Sovereign Housing Association.
Residents on the estate can bring their ordinary unwanted household waste - including items that cannot be recycled - and larger objects like sofas, white goods and mattresses to the Somerford Arc, 20 Southey Rd, Christchurch BH23 3EH.
Toby Eaglen, Community Development Officer for Sovereign, said: “Residents need to look out for trucks between 11am and 2pm and get involved with the community clean-up by putting their own items in the cages.”
Those participating in ‘Chuck it & Chips’ will also get free fish and chips (while stocks last!) and be able to enjoy some family fun with tours of a fire truck and face-painting, as well as getting housing advice and support at a Sovereign drop in session.
The clean up session has been organised in conjunction with BCP Council, Dorset Police, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue and the Volunteer Police Cadets.
