Cooking up a storm
Willing volunteers are still cooking up a storm – and delivering the food – to those who are struggling to access support in the Pan, Pan Meadows and Barton areas.
Although community centres and cafes on the Island have had to close due to isolation measures, those in need can still enjoy a daily meal thanks to a grant of £5,000 from the Sovereign Housing Association Coronavirus Fund, hosted by the Good Exchange https://thegoodexchange.com/
Pan Together - the charity which runs Downside Community Centre and the Isobel Café - is offering a £2 a meal delivery service for those who live within Pan, Pan Meadows and Barton that need a little extra help – and a hot meal.
Rachel Thomson from Pan Together, said: “If people would like a meal bringing to them, all they need to do is order by 10.30am for a delivery at lunchtime the same day. We’re cooking foods to suit all tastes from shepherd's pie to fish and chips; from minted lamb burgers to quiche and salad. Some people are ordering in advance for a week or two whilst others are getting in touch as and when they need something.”
The charity is also offering help with essential shopping and prescription collections.
