Smiles Matter share Christmas spirit
Families in Speedwell enjoyed a fun-packed Christmas bash, bringing the local community together for an enormous party.
More than 100 families attended the sold-out event on Tuesday 18 December, at the St George Labour Club – with entertainment including a children’s DJ, party games and raffle.
The Smiles Matter Community Group formed just six months ago, with support from Sovereign Housing Association, to boost family-based activities in Speedwell and surrounding areas.
Sovereign community engagement officer, Jess Dewhurst, said: “The Smiles Matter action group has worked so hard organising the Christmas party. They’ve been so busy collecting fabulous raffle donations from businesses all around Bristol. The group have previously organised a family picnic in the park, children’s arts and crafts and kid’s bingo, they have so many great ideas. If you’d like to find out more about being part of this friendly community action group, please call or text me on 07557 088 432.”
Kelly Haskins, Smiles Matter group member, said: “Christmas is a magical time of year and we just wanted to come together as a community and spread the joy.”
