"Don't miss out on funding!" says Sovereign Housing Association

Housing association Sovereign is encouraging its self-employed residents across the south of England to take advantage of services available from Enterprise Cube – a social enterprise that offers training, access to grants and advice on how to sustain a business through the impact of Covid-19.

The housing organisation is funding £20,000 of access to Enterprise Cube’s services for any of its residents in need of support to run their own business, due to issues caused by Covid-19.

More than 20 residents have already accessed help, including one woman who runs her own design company and a qualified beautician who used the time while her business was closed to take a course in social media marketing to ensure that she could ‘bounce back better’ post-lockdown.

Jacqueline Hammond, Employment Programme Manager for Sovereign, said: “Our strategic focus at Sovereign is to create communities that can thrive, and small businesses and self-employed people pay a crucial part in this. Enterprise Cube can offer support for our residents that is beneficial both financially and emotionally, through one-to-one emails, phone calls and even texts.”

A second round of government funding for self-employed people opened on 17 August, closing on 19 October 2020.

Paul Funnell, Founding Director of Enterprise Cube, said: “There is plenty of government funding out there, which people might not know about including the Self Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) - and Bounce Back Loans, and many more, accessible via local councils and organisations. We’re here to support self-employed people to get through these challenging times by offering them a helping hand through the maze of options available.”
