Moving home (Covid-19)
We’re trying to make home moves as safe as possible so there are some changes to our processes and it’s likely to take us longer than it used to.
If you’ve bid on one of our homes, we’ve made some changes to our letting process to help keep our customers and staff safe. We’ll talk you through each stage of the process and send you documents to complete on your phone or tablet.
You’ll still be able to view the home but initially this will be a ‘virtual’ viewing via a video link.
Where two households are swapping homes (a mutual exchange), additional gas and electric checks are needed to make sure that each property is safe - which can take some time with both homes being lived in.
We’ve also had to change some of our processes to make our inspections and sign ups safe for everyone – we’ll talk to you about how this’ll work.
We’ll try to keep you updated on the progress of your move and do appreciate that delays are frustrating, so we’re working hard to minimise these while still keeping everyone safe.
Any moves involving someone who’s self-isolating may have to be delayed but we’ll discuss this with anyone in that position.
December 2021: We apologise that applications are currently taking longer to process through to completion. We’ve committed additional people and have reduced the backlog but there’s still some delay to the service. If you’ve requested a swap, please bear with us as we’ll get in contact as soon as we’re able to give you an update on your move.
