Our vision is to work alongside like-minded organisations to deliver solutions that are led by our customers and local community organisations. We use a blended delivery approach of direct funding, commissioned services and partnerships to maximise our investment.
Some of the ways we do this is through the digital funding platforms below, which provide accessible online applications to deliver investment to the heart of Sovereign communities.
Crowdfunding is a way of raising funding by asking a large number of people or funders each for a small amount of money. This puts the decision-making in the heart of the community, and for every £1 raised, Sovereign match the money from the crowd. There’s obviously some criteria, but projects can get an extra cash injection of up to 50% of their project target (maximum pledge of £10k).
You can read all about it and apply on our dedicated page on the Crowdfunder website.
The Good Exchange
The Good Exchange is a not-for-profit fundraising platform, which makes it easy for charitable organisations to raise money through Greenham Trust, grants from other funders, and donations from the general public. Our funding investment is matched with other funding opportunities, which leverages greater returns for our community grants programme.

Social Value Exchange
We've partnered with the Social Value Exchange and using their digital platform, we'll be leveraging £50m of our procurement spend over the next 12 months to get additional resources into local community organisations. Charitable groups and organisations in our communities can register on the platform and use the funding opportunities to build capacity and extend their reach and impact.

Your Community Your Choice
Sovereign’s pilot Participatory budgeting project launched in 2020 with £80,000 funding for specific local areas. This is a new model of community engagement, putting residents at the heart of decision-making. Customers vote for project ideas with the community to decide how the localised funding is invested to improve the area.
