Homelessness

Being homeless doesn’t necessarily mean sleeping on the streets. You can be legally classed as homeless if you’re sleeping on your friend's sofa, living somewhere that’s overcrowded, staying in a hostel or suffering other bad conditions.

If you find yourself in one of these situations, please contact your local authority first of all.

Shelter – the housing and homelessness charity – has a website – www.shelter.org.uk  packed with advice on homelessness, your rights and where to get more help and support.
