Equality Diversion and Inclusion (EDI) is important to us and we are determined to be an organisation that fully embraces inclusion and celebrates difference. This year we have developed a new approach to EDI aimed at taking bold actions to achieve these ambitions.
Our successful Apprenticeship and Trainee programme saw all eleven of our apprentices complete their training. We’re increasing the size of the programme over the next two years, providing apprentices with first class training and development at our new hub in Greenham, Berkshire.
We are also committed to expanding our Women in Trades programme. Five of our 26 apprentices and improvers are women, and we have 3.5% female employees in Property Services. We are aiming to bring this to 7% by 2023.
We want a workforce that’s diverse, gender-balanced and fairly rewarded. Our gender pay gap is 1.7% and the median gender pay gap is 0.6%. Nonetheless, we have committed to improve recruitment and progression of women through the business, improving flexible working options, workplace flexibility, achieving gender pay balance at every level and improving transparency in our promotion, pay and reward processes.
We were delighted to retain our Gold Investors in People (IiP) accreditation following our (IiP) reassessment. IiP reported that our corporate plan has a clear vision, strategies and targeted outcomes, as well as a high level of trust and confidence that these are the right plans for Sovereign and our customers.
We regularly seek feedback from our employees via a survey every quarter about their experiences at work. Our employees recognised our strong and evolving health and wellbeing offer, our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion and the wide range of learning and development resources available. They also have confidence in our commitment to customer service, with the ambition to do even better.
