Building excellence at Victory Oak

Date: 26 March 2018

Victory Oak, Sovereign’s latest sustainable development in Dorset has been recognised in the Dorset Excellence Awards not once, but twice!

The Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards are one of the largest B2B awards in the building control sector, and recognise quality in all types of building projects from excellent buildings to partnerships and individuals who go the extra mile.

Victory Oak is not averse to awards, having been highly commended in the Royal Town Planning Institute’s awards for Excellence in Planning for the Natural Environment earlier last year, so it was fantastic to be recognised by LABC’s with a win for Best Social and Affordable New Housing Development.

Annette Cattle, Development Manager, Sovereign said: “It’s been a labour of love, and we’re extremely proud of our site. Whilst the biggest reward is to see our customers enjoying their new homes, it’s always nice to be recognised by the wider industry.”

In a double award win, Site Manager, Drew Smith Ltd, Jason Llewellyn won Best Site Manager.

The development of 210 affordable new homes has been built on the site of an old military hospital at St Leonards, near Ringwood which was only made possible by working in partnership with many other organisations, including: Homes England, East Dorset District Council, Drew Smith Ltd, Johns Associates, Kendall Kingscott, Tetlow King Planning and White Design as well as Natural England and the Dorset Wildlife Trust.

The winners from all 12 regions across England and Wales will now go forward to the national final.
