The Sovereign Development Consortium (SDC) is an alliance of seven landlords and housing providers in the south and south west.
Working together we can keep procurement costs down, increase efficiencies, bid effectively for funding, and share best practice when building homes.
Since forming in 2004, we’ve exceeded government targets with a focus on:
- building quality homes faster;
- building more cost-effectively;
- making sure homes are energy efficiency;
- having the right mix of tenures, including rent, shared ownership, and outright sale;
- creating attractive estates with designs that cut crime and traffic, and provide options for housing to be altered or extended for changing family circumstances.
Our regional overview, and strong relationships with national and local developers, means we can build houses where they are needed most, including both rural and urban schemes. We also tailor our developments to fit in with local requirements, such as local lettings, local labour, supported housing and resident involvement.
- Sovereign Housing Association
Sovereign is the lead partner of the consortium, managing nearly 38,000 homes and developing approximately 1,000 homes a year.
- Ability Housing Association
With more than thirty years’ experience, Ability provides housing and support for physically and mentally disabled, with nearly 400 homes in London and the south east.
- Advance UK
Advance provides small-scale residential homes, part-buy homes and community support for people with learning difficulties and mental health problems throughout central and southern England.
A Bristol-based specialist in homes for older people, Brunelcare owns nearly 1,100 sheltered properties in 30 schemes in the west.
- Cottsway Housing Association
Set up in 2001 for the transfer of council homes in West Oxfordshire, Cottsway has 3,600 homes and a development programme of 70 a year.
- Housing Solutions Group
Housing Solutions Group manages nearly 4,000 homes across five counties in south east England, and has a development programme of 150 homes a year and £50 million re-provisioning programme for care homes.
- Saxon Weald
Established in 1999 for the transfer of Horsham District Council's stock, Saxon Weald now has more than 5,000 homes and operates across three counties: West Sussex, East Sussex and Hampshire.
- Bracknell Forest Homes
Bracknell Forest Homes is a housing association that owns and manages around 6,000 rented homes, including 400 sheltered housing flats, as well as 1,100 leaseholder properties.
We believe that close industry relationships are vital to achieve the quality, savings and speed paramount in the current housing climate. The advantages of these relationships work two ways – developers can advise on the latest construction techniques, while landlords can provide influence on the supply chain and encourage local labour.
