The "Greenham" and "Wash Common" areas of Newbury, as well as St John's Gardens, Greenham House Gardens, City Recreation Ground and Wash Common Recreation Ground all benefit from the presence of a dedicated team of neighbourhood wardens.
The scheme has recently been extended and now covers the "Clay Hill" ward to the north-east of Newbury as well.
Managed by Sovereign Housing Association with funding from Sovereign Housing Association, Newbury Town Council, Greenham Parish Council, and West Berkshire Safer Communities Partnership, we are there to help improve the quality of life in your community.
We patrol your neighbourhood in our distinctive uniforms and vehicle from 8am until 9pm Monday to Friday, and occasional weekends.
The neighbourhood warden scheme is led by the community. You can help set our priorities by raising any issues and concerns you have through your local residents’ association, Neighbourhood Action Group, or by contacting us direct.
There are several ways to do this.
- You can stop us for a chat when you see us patrolling your area.
- We hold regular housing ‘surgeries’ at the Nightingales Community Centre.
- You can contact us by phone on 01635 44387. We won’t always be in the office so please leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
