46 new affordable homes open in Kingswood, Bristol
South Gloucestershire Council officials and representatives from Sovereign, Newland Homes, Solon and Tremain Powell attended the event and had the opportunity to visit some of the new properties. Solon and Sovereign residents were also invited to the opening. The format of the day included a welcoming address, speeches from Sovereign and Solon, and a ribbon cutting carried out by Sovereign resident Miss Kristie Jones, and her 9 year old son Mitchell. Miss Kristie Jones has recently moved from private rental into a new Sovereign home. She commented: “Overall it was a very enjoyable event, especially the buffet. I’ve been really impressed with the excellent build quality of the houses, their finish inside and out, and also by their well thought out location.” Sovereign Housing’s Divisional Director, Kathy James, also noted the continued importance of building new houses to cement communities and provide affordable housing for those in need. She said: “This new development demonstrates that Sovereign is committed to providing high quality, environmentally friendly and affordable housing in areas where local residents want to remain.” Published 17 September 2008 |
