Sovereign Housing Association ran a series of six Neighbourhood feedback events last summer and building on the success of these, residents have told us that they want them to continue this year. Sovereign are now launching unique neighbourhood improvement weeks and will be holding the events in Portishead, Newbury, Exeter and Plymouth. These events will give residents the chance to meet Property Services, Resident Involvement and Housing teams. They will also have the chance to get repairs carried out in their homes, enjoy a local BBQ with neighbours and also have the chance to get rid of any unwanted household items.
Before the week long event starts, Sovereign surveyors will go out and assess homes to establish if any external repairs are needed. On the Monday morning, staff will go out and talk to residents on their own doorsteps to see how they feel about their home and the repairs service they receive from Sovereign. There will also be the opportunity for residents to have repairs completed. The Monday will then be rounded off with a BBQ for local residents in the evening.
A key element of the week is also about allowing the residents flexibility. On Tuesday and Wednesday staff will go and talk to people who might have been unavailable on the Monday to offer them the same service and then on Thursday afternoon, skips will be provided to allow people to have a summer clean out of all unwanted items.
Penny Riley, Resident Involvement Officer for Sovereign Housing Association, commented:
“These neighbourhood improvement weeks are a great way of allowing people to get hassle free repairs done to their homes, meet the team and of course their neighbours. It also encourages people to have an extra clean out of unwanted items.”
