Sovereign is celebrating after winning the greatest contribution to community outreach category for its Barrow Road development in Barton Hill at the First Time Buyer’s Awards 2010. The award, sponsored by The Times, was aimed at showcasing the best services in the housing sector. It was presented to Sovereign on 22 April in London by Phil Spencer of Channel 4’s Location, Location, Location.
Sovereign, in partnership with Solon Housing Association and Community at Heart, has been involved in Barton Hill since 2001. Since then Sovereign has helped to develop a greater sense of community and pride in the local area through building a diverse range of high quality affordable homes. By the end of 2011 Sovereign will have built approximately 150 new homes and four shops in Barton Hill.
Tony Quigley, Director of Home Ownership for Sovereign, noted, “This award win for Sovereign highlights the transformation of the Barton Hill area over the past few years. This is thanks to the excellent new housing and services and also due to the fact that residents have helped to play a massive part in reshaping the Barton Hill area.”
