Sovereign Twynham is committed to working with local partners to help redevelop the Somerford Estate in Christchurch and providing residents with new and improved homes and facilities. As part of this focus Sovereign Twynham opened the new Cleveland Place development in December last year, which contained 39 much needed affordable new homes in a mix of houses and flats.
Cleveland Place was the first phase of the Somerford Redevelopment programme and now in the second phase Sovereign Twynham is looking at Scotts Green. It was noted that the homes in this area need extensive modernisation and are not cost-effective to refurbish. Therefore, Sovereign Twynham has recently started looking at the options for redeveloping Scotts Green to create a modern, sustainable and energy efficient new development, modelled on the quality of the new homes at Cleveland Place.
There is an initial drop-in session on Monday 7 June from 16.30 to 18.30 at Somerford Hall to give local residents the chance to look at some proposed layouts for different ways that Scotts Green could be redeveloped and get their feedback.
David Ingram, Estates Management Director for Sovereign, noted, “This drop-in session will allow us to show our initial thoughts on how we feel Scotts Green can be redeveloped to provide a more balanced community. This will feature a mix of homes for older people and affordable homes aimed at giving people the chance to get on the housing ladder for the first time. We also aim to improve the use of the green space to make it more user friendly. In doing this we need to respect access provision as well to High Cross Church and existing bungalows.”
