Sovereign Kingfisher provides new bikes to Special Constables to help improve local neighbourhoods

Sovereign Kingfisher

Date: 01 August 2010

Sovereign Kingfisher is committed to improving local neighbourhoods where people want to live through key local schemes. A recent example of this involved Special Constables with the Hampshire Constabulary’s South Safer Neighbourhood Team. They can now ‘get on their bikes’ with thanks to Sovereign Kingfisher’s Residents’ Committee.

Tony Easton, Chairman of the Sovereign Kingfisher Residents’ Committee, officially handed over four bicycles to the constables at last week’s unveiling of the community mosaic at Sovereign Kingfisher’s Community House in South Ham.  The bicycles have been provided thanks to funding from the residents’ committee, a source of funding that aims to improve the life of Sovereign Kingfisher’s residents across all communities.

Acting Sergeant Richard Heard of Hampshire Constabulary Safer Neighbourhoods Team, noted, “The bikes we have been provided with are excellent. They are the best mode of transport for being visible and active within the community. They will make a huge difference and enable the Special Constables to work alongside the regular officers in tackling crime and disorder. We are grateful to the Sovereign Kingfisher Residents’ Committee for their support.”

The Kingfisher Residents’ Committee will be looking to support further projects in the community and would be pleased to hear from Sovereign Kingfisher residents if they have any worthwhile suggestions.  You can contact the resident involvement team on 0800 988 4858 or 01256 464114.
