Sovereign, a leading social housing group and a main provider of affordable housing across south and south west England, recently celebrated its commitment to the south west with an opening event for its new office in Bristol, Brabazon House, on Tuesday 13 April.

Lesley Riddoch, an established journalist and broadcaster, with a keen interest in housing, gave an informative opening address on the importance of homes to building cohesive social integration and communities to around 120 staff, residents and stakeholders. Sovereign also made a significant donation to the Julian House night shelter on Lesley Riddoch’s behalf.

We also commissioned a film which had its first showing at the event, highlighting some of the work we have done in the region and the impact it has had on our residents and the wider communities (see below).

Another special guest was Mrs Wray, Sovereign’s first ever resident in Bristol, who helped the celebrations of 20 years of working in the region by cutting the cake. She also thanked Sovereign and noted that she wanted to ‘carry on living in a Sovereign home for years to come’.

From Brabazon House Sovereign provides and manages an excellent range of affordable homes in Swindon, the West of England Region and to up to Stroud.  The new office demonstrates Sovereign’s growth and commitment to the provision of affordable housing in the region. The new office also offers an excellent location for meetings and training for Sovereign staff, stakeholders and residents in the south west region.

The old Bristol office (Old Chapel Building) is now taking on a new life as the base for Sovereign Response the team responsible for repairs and maintenance of our homes.

Ann Santry, Group Chief Executive for Sovereign, noted, “Sovereign has worked in the region for 20 years and Brabazon House is a reflection of how we have grown in the region helping our partners to meet local housing needs and build sustainable communities.”
