Have you heard of the Tenant Services Authority?

What is it?

The Tenants Services Authority (TSA) is a new social housing watchdog coming next year. It was previously called the Office for Tenants and Social Landlords (Oftenant) and is an independent organisation that will make sure that housing associations are providing a good service to residents.

Why was it set up?

The TSA will replace the Housing Corporation as the regulator for housing associations. It aims to focus more on protecting the needs of residents and take action where you are not getting a fair deal.

How will it work?

The TSA will be in place in April 2009, employing around 250 staff based mainly in London and Manchester. It will also have social housing tenants on its board of management.

Residents’ groups will have the power to report poor service directly to the TSA, who can then penalise the housing association if they are failing to deliver good services.

How will it affect you?

You will have a real say on how your homes and estates are managed.

Getting involved

The TSA is now recruiting for resident Board Members. Please click here for more information.

Or alternatively, go along to one of the National Tenant Voice workshops around the UK, another new national organisation set up to provide expert advice for residents at the national level, to help your voice get heard.
