Initiatives
As a minimum, our schemes are designed to meet the Housing Corporation's Design and Quality Standards , incorporating minimum Code for Sustainable Homes and Housing Quality Indicator (HQIs) levels set by the Housing Corporation for all housing projects that receive social housing grant. We also aim to meet the secure by design standard, an award that has been developed by the Association of Chief Police Officers. Cycle and pedestrian routes are an integral part of our designs and we look to adopt modern methods of construction as a means to delivering sustainable homes quickly and efficiently. The Construction Clients’ Charter status, which we have maintained every year since 2003, is a government initiative, which provides us a toolkit to meet the Egan Agenda for the construction industry. As from May 2008, we have committed to the 2012 Affordable Housing Construction Commitments developed on the Construction Clients’ Charter concepts. These are intended to get all affordable housing developers commit to an agreed set of objectives, outlined by the Housing Corporation, to aid continuous improvement. All Affordable Housing developers in receipt of grant from the Housing Corporation for the 2008-11 funding period are to commit to either the Construction Clients Charter or the 2012 Construction commitments. |
