Audit Commission reports

Teams from the Audit Commission Housing Inspectorate visit all housing associations to find out about their services to residents, and how they are working to improve these.

They look at how each association does in various areas, including:

  • how it plans repairs and carries out maintenance;
  • how it consults tenants;
  • how it allocates homes; and
  • how it tackles issues like antisocial behaviour and complaints.

In autumn 2003, the Audit Commission inspected The Vale Housing Association. Inspectors assessed the Association as providing satisfactory services to tenants and said that it was also raising standards in service delivery. Click here for a summary of their report.

In autumn 2004, the inspectors visited Sovereign Housing Association and gave it one of the best results in the country, saying that the Association provided good (two star) services, and had excellent prospects for improvement. Click here for a summary of their report.

Twynham Housing Association was formally inspected during February 2008. They were awarded '1 star' and the service has been assessed as 'fair' with 'promising prospects for improvement'. Twynham are already acting on the Audit Commission's recommendations by implementing various improvements to its services, supported by the Group as a whole. Click here for the detailed report.
