Zero carbon housing
Achieving Level 6 under the Code for Sustainable Homes meets the Government’s standards for zero carbon housing, where all new homes must be zero carbon by 2016. A zero carbon home is one with zero net emissions of carbon dioxide from all energy use in the home.
Hanham Hall, the first site in the Government’s Carbon Challenge initiative, is to become one of the first zero-carbon communities in England. Barratt Homes Bristol is the preferred developer, and we are responsible for the affordable housing on the site. Hanham Hall will provide a mixture of houses, apartments and facilities for community activities that will make it easier for residents to lead sustainable lifestyles. The site will be owned by a development trust, and the proceeds will go towards helping to build the sustainable community.
