We treat everyone fairly but recognise that certain groups may face discrimination or may be disadvantaged in other ways. We refer to these groups as ‘diversity groups’. These groups are identified in equality legislation and include people who are disabled, from black or minority ethnic groups, from different religions and faiths, of different ages, of different genders, with different relationship status and with different sexual orientation.
We ensure that members of these groups are treated in ways that meet their needs, and that they are not excluded inappropriately from any services or activities within the Group. We will promote their inclusion and challenge discrimination against them.
To make sure that all our customers have a fair and equal opportunity to use our services we carry out an Equality Impact Assessment upon any policy, procedure or process when we review it or when we introduce it.
This assessment checks whether there are any particular groups of customers who may be discriminated against because of their age, gender, ethnicity, religion or faith, sexual orientation, gender assignment or disability.
