Growing sustainably

We have grown rapidly since we formed the Group in April 2005, both through developing new homes and through new partners becoming group members. As we have grown, we have developed our ability to work collaboratively for the benefit of residents and the Group as a whole. Our partner members work together and learn from each other, to ensure that we are one of England’s most successful housing groups.

Our Group is predicated on delivering improved services for existing and future residents. Our partner members add value to the Group: for example, by enabling us to save money on back-office services or bringing our management processes closer to where our residents live. A number of potential growth opportunities have been considered and rejected because we were unable to demonstrate these benefits.

Growing locally

Our growth strategy is not simply a matter of size. We aim to be selective in the opportunities we pursue. As well as financial strength, we look for a commitment to service excellence, a high quality management team, and a culture that will be compatible with our Group’s vision and ethos.  We only consider organisations to become members of the Group if the majority of their stock is within our current operating area.  This approach ensures that both our geography and our organisation remain sustainable.

Following the amalgamation with Wessex Housing partnership, our focus for new partnerships will be in south west England, where our stock is relatively dispersed.
